Hello, fellow book lovers; lately, I have read some exciting books. At the beginning of the year, I made it a goal to read more books than I did the year before. Last year’s list might be hard to top since I read many books. Although already this year, my list has grown exponentially.
I love reading books because they take you to another place and time. They are perfect for reading at night before bed, listening in your car on long drives, or hopping around town (yes, I said listening to). One of the ways I have an extensive list of books is I have been listening to books in the car, working out, or while I am working. I love any opportunity to read a book. Also, while listening to one book, I can read another to get two books in simultaneously.
There are so many good books out. Besides having a list of books I have already read, I also have one of the books I want to read. So I keep a list on my phone for both. This way, I will remember what I read or want to read.
I have found a lot of good book recommendations on Reese Witherspoon’s Sunshine Bookclub and Jenna Bush Hager. I like reading books that are being made into movies or tv shows, and I will also randomly find book recommendations on friends’ Instagram. I find hearing what others thought of the book helpful in choosing what to read.
Almost everything I have read this year was excellent. I have recommended nearly all these books to friends and you on my Instagram stories. It would be great to have one central place to share all my book recommendations so there would be an easy place to find them since I have asked multiple times what other books I can recommend.

Books I have recently read:
Pineapple Street by Jenny Jackson
Pineapple Street is a lovely read and is Jenny Jackson’s debut novel. It was well-written and easy to read. It sucked me in, wanting to keep reading wee into the night. It is about the relationships of a family who lives in the fruit street neighborhood of the upper east side of NYC.
There are the parents, and there are three kids. It shares their relationships with money, each other, and the people around them. Jenny Jackson describes each character in depth. It makes you feel as though you have been friends with them for years. I suggest you add this book to your summer book list. I can’t wait for her to write more books.
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover-
It Ends with Us was the first book I read from Colleen Hoover. A friend recommended this book, and I am so glad she did. It Ends With Us is a heart-wrenching story of a woman’s relationship with her mother, a childhood friend, and new relationships. It Ends With Us takes place in Boston and Maine. I loved the New England touches.
This book discusses relationships around a complex topic. I could not put this book down because I wanted to see how it ended. There were a few points I thought it was ending, but it went on a little longer. That was hard for me because I was unsure what else they could say. However, having it go a little longer enhanced the book and made it even better. They are making this book into a movie, and I love reading books before watching their film adaptations. I’m glad I read it and eager to read more of her books.
Spare Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex-
Spare Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, was an interesting book. I listened to this book that Prince Harry himself read. His reading enhanced the experience of listening to it. This book was good. There could be a few parts that could have been taken out. However, they were not relevant to his story. It was so interesting to hear about his relationship with the paparazzi about what happened to his mom.
I know this is a controversial book, and not everyone wants to read it, and yes, some of it cried me a River. However, if you can look past that, you learn a lot about how his mother’s death affected him and his relationship with his family as the number two in line to the crown. I highly recommend this book and listen to it. This would be a good one to take out of the library.
I Am Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy-
I am Glad My Mom Died is an exciting read for anyone who grew up in the 90s Nickelodeon days. This book takes you tough Jennette’s turbulent life. Her relationship with her mother had some relationship issues, and she wanted the best for her kids, especially Jennette.
There are some tough topics Jannette talks about. But they need to be talked about more often. Our Missing Hearts is an excellent read. I learned a lot about Jennette’s life that most of us probably do not know about.
Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng-
I love Celeste Ng’s books. The first book I read of hers was Little Fires Everywhere. Her newest book, Our Missing Hearts, is sci-fi. It talks like it is in the future. It is interesting to read about people being mistreated because of an incident ( it relates to what is happening now in our world).
Our Missing Hearts is about a son’s relationship with his mother and father. How his mom leaves him, and how he wants to find her. His dad is upset with her and does not want to discuss it. Our Missing Hearts was an excellent read. It gets you thinking about what could happen to our world.
The Lending Library by Aliza Fogelson-
I had seen a book blogger I recommend, The Lending Library, and thought it sounded good. This book is a good beach read. It is about two sisters who want to vacation before one sister has her third baby. This book talks about the sister’s love of books shown to them by their mom.
It talks about their relationship with their mother. One of the sisters is a book publicist and has a love-hate relationship with one of the book editors. I will not tell you anymore. I don’t want to give anything more away. But, I will say this book will suck you into the Characters’ relationships. I loved this book so much that I finished it in a few days.
Shug By Jenny Han-
Shug is a YA book that was a fun, easy read. I loved the book series To All the Boys so much that I wanted to read Jenny Han’s other books. Shug is a book about a relationship between and girl and a boy in middle school. It brought me back to middle school and how it felt to be like boys but be in that awkward stage of life. If you like reading YA books, then read this. Otherwise, I would pass.
