While being in the house more over the past months. More of us are finding ways to keep busy and do something fun. There have been more baking, cooking, Netflix, Tik Tok, and tie-dye. Also, crafting has been big, especially needlepoint.

I started needle pointing a few years ago because I wanted a new craft project to work on. For years I had been making jewelry and drawing. I started seeing other people making needlepoint projects. It looked like fun so I looked into starting. I started by going to the Wellesley Needle Point Collective. A local needlepoint shop in the Boston suburbs. They helped me pick out a canvas and learn some basic stitches. Ever since that day I have enjoyed doing needlepoint.

I just finished the third project That I added to a tote bag. (If you want to learn more about how I created this project you can see it on my Instagram). For you all to get started you will need to pick out a starter kit. Below I have shared with you some fabulous starter kits I have found. After you have your kit. It will help to watch some videos on how to do some basic stitches. Below I have linked some videos that will be easy to follow. The stitch I started with was the continental this is what it looks like.

You can’t buy happiness but you can buy a needlepoint project (needlepoint for beginners). Here are some Needle Point tips for beginners.

With this stitch, you are crossing over the cross point of the canvas. you are going on the diagonal. You should start at one end of the pattern. Go across the whole way and then move up to the next line until the pattern is done. I hope you enjoy your first Needlepoint project and I can wait to see what you made. I would love for you to share it through the hashtag #Needlepointwithbayberryandmain
