Let’s Do This! Workouts That Make Me Happy……
For the past seven years I have run a half marathons for charity and a bunch of 5k’s each year these are a great way to workout. Well this year I decided I needed a break from fundraising. I also happen to not be working at the same time. Not doing both things and not being on my feet as much during the day lead to me gaining weight I did not need. So because of that I started thinking what workouts I could do to stay in shape and have fun doing it. Before I stopped running, I had been going to yoga and spin class as a way to workout. I really enjoyed doing both so I have started doing these again. I also added going to Barre3. This has added something different to my routine. In between all these classes I have been joining a friend at the gym. I feel being happy while working out makes for a better class and will make you want to come back and do it again. I have compiled a lists of classes I like going to and some of the places I like doing them. What is your favorite workout?
Barre3– Barre3 is a barre class that combines, some yoga moves, cardio, barre and floor work. Their classes focus on breathing, your core and doing the moves right to get the most out of class. This is a really good workout. I love that at Barre3 you can get class packages. (The class packages save you some money by buying a bunch of classes all at once).
Yoga- Now yoga has a few different classes. They have vinyasa flow, hot yoga and a few others. Each one is a little different from each other but, all of them are a good workout. You just need to decide which one works for you. Vinyasa Flow focuses on your moves and flowing through them. Hot yoga is just how it sounds it is yoga in a warm room which helps you sweat out all the impurities. I recently started going to Yogaworks with just opened a new location in Chestnut Hill. I went to a class that was yoga and a workout. I thought the instructor and class were great. I have also gone to Down Under Yoga in Brookline. I also liked it there. They had good teachers and great classes. At both of these places you can get class passes and a discount for getting a few classes at once.
Spin- I am sure most of you have heard of spin class. It is very trendy right now. I tried going to Soulcycle which I thought was a lot of fun. The thing I did not like was the coast. It is more money to go there over other studios. I have been going to The Handle Bar recently and I am really enjoying going there. I love that when you are in class they make you feel good (about how you are doing even if you could have done better). The Handle bar does discounts for college students and teachers. Also they have class packages where if you buy a few classes you get a discount on them. A friend of mine goes to flywheel and really likes going there. She says at flywheel they track your progress and you can see how you did from class to class. Flywheel also does class packages and you get a discount on classes for buying a package.
