Sunday in the City….
This past Sunday was the perfect day to spend in the city. The sun was out the sky was blue and it was warm for November. I had gotten an invitation to come try the new brunch menu at Joe’s American Bar and Grill on Newbery St. I have eaten there before and have always loved their food and location. This location is beautiful because it has all glass in the front and the rest is all stone with dark wood accents which matches the look of Newbery St.
Joe’s is a great place to have a leisurely brunch then walk down Newbery St. or a great place to have brunch with your family on Thanksgiving weekend when you need a break from cooking and want a delicious meal. Joe’s American Bar and Grill has one of the most amazing brunchs I have had. Their menu has something for everyone. They have gluten free items and are very knowledgeable about allergies.
We got to meet their chef Dan Billo. He has such a passion for cooking. He has brought food from his travels into what he makes. His hash has a story. When he was younger he was on a trip to the South with his family, where he had the best hash of his life. He tries to replicate this in his hash. When we sat down they had some appetizers for us deviled eggs, ceviche and pork sliders. We all got to pick a drink (I got the peach mimosa). The mimosa was so good I could have had two.
Now it was hard for me to pick what I wanted off the menu since there were so many yummy looking items. After looking over the menu for a few minutes I picked the blueberry pancakes and a side of applewood smoked turkey sausage. Oh my heavens it was so large I could not finish it all! Even though I wanted to since it was so good. Some of the other people I was with had the hash, yogurt parfait, bagels and lox, and crab cakes. Everyone at the table was raving about the food. I can’t wait to get a chance to go back and have their brunch again. I will have to bring my friends who are part of the self named ladies who brunch.
I just had to share this picture it makes me happy. This is everyone taking pictures of all the great food we ate.
