Redesining my Life……
Up till now my whole house has been a mishmash of items I got when I moved into my first apartment after college along with my at that time decorating style shabby chic. As time has gone by and I have been passed on more pieces for my apartment that are more 60’s modern and I have explored more decorating styles, my taste has started to evolve. Recently I started to redo my bedroom into a more 60’s modern/hollywood regency style. I got a new bed and I am in the process of restyling my book shelf. Up till now my book shelf was used as my junk drawer.and a Pez holder for my amazingly large collection. Now it did not bother me that is what it was used for. Till I started seeing more and more wonderfully decorated houses with amazing bookshelves looking all pretty with its nice knickknacks, books arranged in fun ways and other wonderful moments loving placed. Now I have always considered my self a good interior designer and others have told me that too. But I will tell you a secret I have a problem ok now this is hard to say I AM A PACKRAT. There I said it. This is why my bookshelf became my junk drawer. I am about to do a big clean out and get rid of the junk so I can style my book shelf in a clever stylish way. I have been looking for ideas on Pinterest. I think Pinterest is a great way to get lots of inspiration for many different projects or things you want to work on. There are lots of fun ideas for stylish shelf design. What I think I want to do with mine is use the top shelf to display my best Pez. Then the next one for my photo albums. But I am not just going to stack them right side up in one line I think I will turn some sideways and maybe place a picture frame and a trinket on them. On the last two selves I will put more books and other valued items. The other thing I did was purchased some pretty stylish storage boxes to also incorporate into my design. They not only look nice but they can also hide away some of my important items that I can’t get rid of and can’t fit on my book shelf. Now It is going to be hard but I am going to work at not putting too much stuff on them, since that looks cluttered and unattractive. I hope you find this helpful and inspiring so that you too can restyle your bookshelf. Happy restyling!!
