The last few days in Chicago have been fun. It has been a while since I have seen my uncle, aunt and cousins. Now my mom had given me the task of picking out presents for my cousins kids not only because I am good at it, ( I work with kids) but also because the tax is cheaper in Massachusetts than it is in California where my parents live. I enjoyed getting to find fun little things I thought the kids might like. While in Chicago, I got to see one of my cousins new house, which is amazingly old and beautiful. The house is a Victorian Midwestern house with fireplaces in many room, with floor to ceiling windows. The first day I was there, we went to have dinner at their house. The next day was the retirement party for my uncle and the reason we all were there. For the party, I wore my Vineyard Vines searsucker dress with a pair of gold flats, Cwonder dark blue gemstone stud earrings and some of my Alex and Ani bangle bracelets. The party was at a cool, vintage restaurant that had a upstairs party room. You really did not need too many decorations because it had it’s own ambiance. We did how ever bring some balloons, pictures and memorabilia from my uncles days as a pilot for United. The party was so much fun and a nice way to get to see old friends and family. It was also a chance to meet people my uncle flew with or had become friends with over his 27 years as a pilot. After the party, we went back to one of the hotels people were staying at and we hung out some more. The next day was Sunday and we had breakfast with some friends and family (it was nice to chat). After breakfast, my aunt, mom and I went to a craft fair, where my aunts friend was selling her Towel dresses and necktie flowers. It was interesting walking around and seeing all the many vendors; some of the stuff was different from what you would see on the east coast. Also, the prices would have been way more there too. Today, I am headed back home. I am sorry to have to leave such a nice time with family. I hope to get to see them again soon.
