A Daytrip to Newburyport….
I love doing day trips and living in the Boston are there area. There are many great destinations within an hour or two that provide that opportunity. On Friday I headed up to Newburyport to explore the area. Now I have been there before a few times, but this time was different. This time when I went they were having the tall ships. The two tall ships they had where the Black Dog ship and her sister ship. I have been in love with the Black Dog ship since I saw it the first time a few years ago as I was on the ferry headed over to Martha’s Vineyard. I have loved boats and boating ever since I was a young girl and my great uncle would take me out on his boat and even let me drive it sometimes. Now both of these boats are so beautiful. They just stand there like majestic fish rising right out of the ocean. Visiting the tall ships was not the only thing I did in Newburyport. I also had the opportunity to have Lunch at Michael’s. It is this adorable seaside restaurant where you can eat inside or outside and their deck is heated. Michael’s is not just adorable looking their food is also amazing. I had brought a friend with me and we wanted to start off with an appetizer. We asked the waitress for a recommendation. We tried the most amazing muscles I have ever eaten. I might have even had some bread just as a means to eat the sauce (that is how good it was). I am still dreaming about those muscles so when you go there muscles are a must. Now for my main meal I had fried clams. This is the first of the season for me and they certainly did not disappoint. Now after lunch we went off to explore some of the shops in town. One of the shops we went to was the Port Blue. This is a lovely store with items all from local New England makers. Some were even from Newburyport. One of the owners happened to be at the store when I got there. She was so lovely to talk to. You can tell she has a real passion for her store and the items she has in it. I was so excited to find a beautiful bowl that was blue glass with the sea and birds etched on it. I bought two to bring as presents for trips this summer. Next time I go back to Newburyport I am going to have to visit Port Blue again. I had such a fun day in Newburyport and can’t wait to go back again soon. Thank you Newburyport for having me.
